Márton Bene earned his MA in Sociology from Eötvös Loránd University in 2014 and his Ph.D. in Political Science with Summa Cum Laude honors from Corvinus University of Budapest in 2019. He joined the CSS Institute of Political Science in 2013 and currently serves as a research professor as of 2025. His research focuses on political communication, the role of social media in politics, and political behavior.
He has participated in numerous funded research projects, both as a researcher and principal investigator (PI). Notably, he is/was the PI of the NKFIH-funded project Networked Locality (2020–2025) and the CSS Incubator-funded project COMPACT (2020–2022). Additionally, he contributed to the EU Horizon-funded project DEMOS (2018–2021). Since 2019, he has also been a part-time assistant professor at the Institute of Political Science, Eötvös Loránd University, where he teaches courses on research design and political communication.
He actively engages in international collaborations and serves as a board member of the international research network DigiWorld. In terms of academic service, he has been an elected board member of the Hungarian Political Science Association since 2022. Moreover, he has served as the editor of Hungary’s leading political science journal, Politikatudományi Szemle, since 2024.
